Sun Goddess Wine by Mary J. Blige

When you think of Mary J. Blige certain products immediately come to mind, boots and sunglasses for sure, but surprisingly when I read that she was coming out with a wine it made sense.

I was excited to find the brand at a local store and decided to try the Sun Goddess Wine Pinot Grigio Ramato because in my research I discovered that it’s actually a rose’ that is made with pinot grigio. I happen to enjoy rose’ thoroughly.

What it claims:

  • intense & complex with hints of fruits – I did catch the hint of fruit

  • full bodied & velvety – I am still a bit of a novice with identifying all the characteristics of wine but it was smooth

  • pleasant acidity – I agree

  • soft tannins with a mineral finish – The tannins (texture and mouth feel/drying sensation) were light which I appreciate

THOUGHTS

If you have a wine lover in your midst the Sun Goddess Pinot Grigio Ramato would be a lovely gift, especially if they are hosting you for the holiday and even better if they love MJB as most of us do. The wine has a pleasant brightness married perfectly to a soulful kick (you can thank the 12.5% alcohol content for that). It really is ‘Everything’, ‘Mary’s Joint’ and ‘Give Me You’ in a bottle; those songs that show MJB’s soft side without sacrificing her identity as a deep and expressive artist we can feel.

You can purchase Sun Goddess Wines, both the Pinot Grigio Ramato and the Sauvignon Blanc, at your local store that carries fine wine and spirits or directly from the site.
